    Government is modernizing the Coast Guard: Home Affairs Advisor

    Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. Retired Jahangir Alam said, ‘The Coast Guard is working to advance the new country born through the student movement. The government has taken all measures to modernize the Coast Guard.’

    The Home Affairs Advisor said this while attending the 30th founding anniversary ceremony of the Bangladesh Coast Guard in Agargaon in the capital on Monday as the chief guest.

    At the time, he said that work is being done to further modernize the Coast Guard by adding helicopter boards.

    The Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘After the movement, Coast Guard members have been working to maintain law and order. At the same time, they have participated in operations to catch and arrest those involved in various criminal activities.’

    Commenting that Coast Guard members are working tirelessly to secure the sea borders, the Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘The Coast Guard is guarding the borders with regular patrols. The Coast Guard is successfully working to ensure the safety of fishermen in the Sagar River.’

    Earlier, the Home Affairs Advisor received the Coast Guard salute as a disciplined force. During this time, 40 Coast Guard members were awarded medals in four categories in recognition of their heroic and service-oriented work.
