Gold Prices Rise Again in Bangladesh.

Gold prices have gone up once more in the domestic market. The price of one bhori (11.66 grams) of 22-carat gold, the highest quality, has increased by Tk 2,088, now costing Tk 1,40,586.

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced the revised prices on Wednesday evening, stating they will take effect from Thursday.

In their notification, BAJUS explained that the hike reflects an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market, prompting a reassessment of gold rates based on the overall situation.

Here’s the breakdown of the new prices:

    • 22-carat gold (per bhori): Tk 1,40,586
    • 21-carat gold (per bhori): Tk 1,34,194
    • 18-carat gold (per bhori): Tk 1,15,330
    • Traditional gold (per bhori): Tk 94,478

The association also noted that a 5% VAT set by the government and a minimum 6% wage determined by BAJUS must be added to these prices. However, the final price may vary depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewelry.

This increase follows a price adjustment on December 14, when BAJUS had reduced the price of a 22-carat gold bhori by Tk 1,773, bringing it down to Tk 1,38,498 at the time.

Gold prices in the country have been highly volatile this year, with adjustments made 60 times. Of these, prices were raised 35 times and lowered 25 times.
