GEC meeting after 20 years, new dimension in Bangladesh-Pakistan relations

After a long 20 years, the Bangladesh-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission meeting was held. This meeting was held at the NEC Conference Room located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital today, Monday (October 27). The Bangladesh delegation was led by Finance Advisor Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed and Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Ali Parvez Malik. After the meeting, the leaders of the two parties briefed the journalists.
Saleh Uddin Ahmed said that various issues have gained importance in developing relations between the two countries. In addition, efforts are being made to further revive SAARC. The meeting will improve relations between the people of the two countries. Agriculture, information technology, food, aviation and maritime communication sectors were discussed. Pakistan has expressed interest in these issues.
Ali Parvez Malik said, we want to cooperate. The two countries have given utmost importance to increasing trade volume, jute, agricultural cooperation and the pharmaceutical industry. He said that the relations between the two countries will be further strengthened. As a result, both countries will benefit. Bangladesh is well known for its golden jute. So we are interested in buying jute products from this country.
He said, an agreement has been signed with BSTI. Where it is said that any halal product approved by BSTI can be exported to Pakistan. They will accept it. And Bangladesh will accept the halal certificate that Pakistan’s PHA will give.
