    Students have been gathering at Shaheed Minar since dawn.

    The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced a ‘March for Unity’ program as the state-level initiative to formulate a July declaration based on national consensus has been taken. Responding to their call, students from all over the country have started coming to Shaheed Minar since early Tuesday morning to join it.

    Work to rig the stage at Shaheed Minar began since morning. Students from the districts, that started for Dhaka since Monday night, took up positions in front of Shaheed Minar by 7 am. They included students from northern districts like Panchagarh, Natore and Sirajganj.

    Earlier, in a media release sent around 1:45 am on Monday, the organization said the new Bangladesh emerged in a historical backdrop based on the public aspiration that emerged through the spontaneous participation of the students in the mass uprise organized in July-August, namely abolition of the fascist system and a promise for establishing a new political settlement. The ‘July Declaration’ is a document of public aspiration and recognition of the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs and wounded warriors. The historical responsibility for formulating this declaration lies with the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the organization leading the July Mass Uprising. We, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, despite various adversities, took the responsibility of formulating and announcing this historical declaration on behalf of the students of Bangladesh. The result of this undertaking has been to elicit a spontaneous and positive response among the entire student population of Bangladesh.

    An initiative has been taken from the state level to formulate a July declaration based on national consensus in this situation. Students and public are clapping for this timely initiative announced at the call of the students and the public. A ‘March for Unity’ program has been declared, announcing its continuity at Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday at 3 pm.
