Gas supply to remain low for 72 hours in the new year: Petrobangla
A liquefied natural gas or LNG terminal is going to be closed for 72 hours from 9 am on the first day of the new year, tomorrow, Wednesday, January 1 for repair and maintenance work. As a result, the gas supply will temporarily decrease and low pressure will prevail throughout the country.
The information was provided in a release issued by Tariqul Islam Khan, DGM (Public Relations) of Petrobangla, on Tuesday.
It said the RLNG supply will be shut for a total of 72 hours from 9 am on Wednesday, January 1 to 9 am on Saturday, January 4 for repair and maintenance-related works.
During this period, around 570-580 million cubic feet of gas per day will be continuously supplied through another FSRU, namely Moheshkhali Floating LNG. Thus, the power sector will see a reduction in the supply of about 150-180 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Besides, because of the reduction of around 50-70 million cubic feet of gas per day in other sectors, there will be low gas pressure in some areas of the country, Petrobangla has also said.
Petrobangla sincerely apologizes for the temporary inconvenience caused to the public.
