Funeral and burial of 14 people killed in road accident in Rampal
The funeral and burial of 14 people killed in a horrific road accident in Rampal, Bagerhat have been completed. Their funerals and burials were completed at different times yesterday, Friday (March 13).
The bodies of newlywed Mitu, her sister Lamia and grandmother Rasheda Begum reached Naksha village in Khulna’s Koyra upazila in the early hours of the morning. Their burial was completed after the funeral at 10 am. The funeral of microbus driver Naeem Sheikh was held at his village home in Rampal at 11:30 am. He was then buried there. In addition, after the funeral, the body of Mitu’s grandmother was buried in Salna village.
Meanwhile, the funeral of nine people from the groom’s side was completed in Mongla yesterday afternoon and they were buried in the municipal graveyard. It is worth noting that a collision occurred between a Navy bus and a passenger microbus in the Babubari area of Rampal, Bagerhat on Thursday afternoon. Thirteen family members, including the bride and groom, were killed in the incident. The microbus driver also died. One of them, who is undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College, is in critical condition.
