Four more BNP candidates in High Court challenging election results over allegations of rigging

BNP candidates have filed applications in the High Court challenging the election results of Rajshahi-1, Kurigram-2, Rangpur-6 and Rangpur-4 constituencies in the 13th National Parliament election. A single High Court bench of Justice Md. Zakir Hossain will hear these applications today (March 2) on Monday.
The four candidates are – BNP’s Sohel Hossain Kaikobad in Kurigram-2 constituency, BNP’s Md. Saiful Islam in Rangpur-6 constituency, BNP’s Md. Emdadul Haque Bhorsa in Rangpur-4 constituency and BNP’s Major General (retd.) Md. Sharif Uddin in Rajshahi-1 constituency.
Earlier, yesterday, Sunday (March 1), the High Court accepted the separate applications of BNP candidate DMD Ziaur in Pabna-4 constituency and BNP candidate Md. Habibur Rahman Habib for hearing. An Election Tribunal was constituted in the High Court to hear ‘election’ petitions against electoral irregularities under Section 49 of the Representation of the People Ordinance.
A single bench headed by Justice Md. Zakir Hossain is hearing these petitions.
