    Former State Minister Dipankar Talukder arrested

    The Intelligence Department (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Dipankar Talukder. This information was given in a message on Monday.

    The DB’s media department said that Dipankar Talukder was arrested from Sobhanbagh in the capital.

    Rangamati District Awami League President Dipankar Talukder built a luxurious residence ‘Dipalaya’ in Champak Nagar of Rangamati town while he was the State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and a member of parliament. Several crores of taka were spent on the construction of the five-storey building. He also spent crores of taka on the construction of the Kalpataru Convention Hall in Banarupa in Rangamati town. There are also allegations against him of building a 10-storey house in Kolkata, India.

    He owns two flats worth Tk 1.44 crore in Mohammadpur and Purbachal New Town in Rajuk and 5 kathas of land worth Tk 3.3 lakh in Ananya Residential Area of ​​Chittagong Development Authority (Chowk). He has acquired these properties and assets worth thousands of crores of taka through corruption, irregularities and abuse of power.

    Recently, a group of hill-Bengali people from 10 upazilas of Rangamati submitted a written complaint with this information to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

    Sources in the local ACC office said that the complainants have also sent a copy of the complaint to the office of the Chief Advisor. However, the complainants requested not to disclose their names.
