    Former PS of former energy advisor arrested

    Police have arrested Md. Monowar Hossain (50), former special assistant (PS) to former energy advisor to former Prime Minister Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury. Members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Adabor Police Station arrested him in a case of attempted murder during the July Movement during a raid in Dhamrai, Dhaka on Tuesday.

    This information was given by DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman on Wednesday. He said that he was arrested during a raid in Dhamrai area of ​​Dhaka district at around 4:30 pm on Tuesday. The arrested Md. Monowar Hossain was the co-secretary of the Awami League’s central sub-committee. He was a candidate for the Dhamrai constituency in the last parliamentary election. Monowar was the personal officer (PS) of former energy advisor Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury in 2009-10.

    Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that Monowar Hossain was involved in the anti-discrimination movement. Monir Hossain is the accused in a case filed at Adabor Police Station in connection with the attempted murder. Md. Monir Hossain filed the case at Adabor Police Station on 21st of last year as the plaintiff.

    According to Adabor Police Station sources, Md. Monowar Hossain was arrested from Dhamrai area of ​​Dhaka district after conducting a drive with the help of intelligence information and technology in this case under investigation. Legal action is under process against the arrested person.
