Former MP Nazmin Sultana arrested
Police have arrested Ahmed Nazmin Sultana, former president of Kurigram District Women’s Awami League and former MP for the reserved women’s seat. He was arrested from his residence in Moktarpara village in the old town of the district on Saturday night.
Kurigram Sadar Police Station OC Md. Habibullah confirmed the matter to the media.
According to sources, Nazmin Sultana was the MP for the reserved women’s seat-6 of the 9th National Parliament. At the same time, she served as the president of Kurigram Women’s Awami League for two terms. She is the wife of Sadar Upazila Awami League President Akhtar Hossain Chinu. Nazmin Sultana was a member of the parliamentary standing committee related to the Ministry of Agriculture during the 9th National Parliament term.
It is learned that there are allegations that various government allocations were sold in her favor during her tenure as an MP. However, the exact charges on which she was arrested could not be immediately confirmed.
OC Habibullah said in this regard, “She has been arrested and taken to the police station. She will be questioned.” “The arrest will be made after the involvement is confirmed.”
