    Former State Minister for Home Affairs Babar admitted to hospital after falling ill.

    Former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfuzzaman Babar has suddenly fallen ill. He was taken to the capital’s United Hospital on Sunday evening.

    That evening, while exchanging views with leaders and activists, he suddenly felt pain in the left side of his chest. Later, he was taken to the hospital.

    The former State Minister for Home Affairs was released from prison after 17 years on Thursday.

    On January 14, BNP leader Babar and five others were acquitted of the case filed in the much-discussed 10 truck arms seizure incident in Chittagong. The High Court bench comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Nasrin Akhter passed the order after hearing the death reference (approval of the death sentence) and the appeals filed by the accused.

    In addition, Babar was acquitted of the death sentence in the smuggling case filed in the 10 truck arms seizure incident on December 18.
