    Former Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda Arrested While Trying to Flee to India

    Narayan Chandra Chand former land minister and former MP of Khulna-5 constituency was arrested while fleeing to India illegally.

    This information was confirmed in a message sent by BGB on Sunday night. According to BGB, the former land minister was arrested from Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah while fleeing to India illegally.

    Narayan Chandra Chand was the first Minister of State for Fisheries and Livestock in the 10th Parliament. He became the full minister of the same ministry in 2018. After the twelfth national parliament election last January, he got the responsibility of land minister.

    On September 29, a young woman filed a kidnapping case against 18 people including Narayan Chandra Chand in the Khulna Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal. Former chairman of Dumuria Upazila Parishad Gazi Ejaz Ahmed has also been accused in the case.

    The Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina collapsed on August 5 in a student uprising. Sheikh Hasina left the country for India on that day. Since the fall of the government, advisors, ministers, members of parliament, former IGP of police, influential leaders of Awami League have been arrested.
