Former Home Minister Mahmudul Hasan’s funeral and burial completed in Tangail

The funeral and burial of former Home Minister and BNP Vice Chairman Major General (Retd.) Mahmudul Hasan have been completed. The funeral was held at Bindubasini Boys’ High School grounds in Tangail city on Thursday (January 1) afternoon. After the funeral, he was buried next to his wife’s grave in the courtyard of his house in Santesh, Tangail.
Thousands of people from all walks of life participated in the funeral, regardless of party beliefs. Major General (Retd.) Mahmudul Hasan played an important role in the country’s politics as a former Home Minister and BNP Vice Chairman. After serving in the Bangladesh Army for a long time, he became active in politics. While in charge of the Home Ministry, he made important contributions to maintaining law and order and strengthening national security.
Before the funeral, speakers said that Mahmudul Hasan was an honest, disciplined and patriotic leader. With his death, the country lost an experienced and responsible politician. Earlier, he breathed his last at his residence in Gulshan on Wednesday (December 31) at 3:30 pm. He is survived by a son and a daughter.
The funeral was attended by BNP Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Pintu, Ahmed Azam Khan, Bangabir Abdul Quader Siddiqui Bir Uttam, Latif Siddiqui, Central Executive Committee Member Lutfar Rahman Matin, Central BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, District BNP President Hasanuzzaman Iqbal, District BNP General Secretary Faruk Hasan Hasan, General Secretary Hasan Hossain Khan, etc. Islamic Amir Ahsan Habib Masud, District General Secretary of Islami Andolan Md. Akhinur Mia, etc.
