Former DGs question delay in extinguishing fire, see mismanagement and lack of capacity

It took about seven and a half hours to bring the fire under control at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital. By then, the imported goods inside had been burnt to ashes.
Former DGs of the Fire Service have questioned how long it took to extinguish the fire in the sensitive area. They also expressed surprise at the delay.
Former DG of the Fire Service Brigadier General (Retd.) Ali Ahmed Khan Ali Ahmed Khan said that this happened due to mismanagement and negligence. Such incidents have happened before. However, they did not learn any lessons from this. Moreover, if someone started this fire, it was due to the negligence of the detectives.
Another former DG, Brigadier J. (Retd.) Abu Naeem Mohammad Shahidullah said that our firefighters lack the skills. Moreover, every infrastructure must have a fire extinguishing system. Otherwise, they cannot be given clearance under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, Civil Aviation and Tourism Advisor Bashir Uddin said the extent of the damage caused by the fire will be assessed and the cause of the accident will be found.
