Foreign Affairs Advisor leaves Dhaka for New York
Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain has left Dhaka for New York to attend a high-level international conference organized at the UN Headquarters on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian crisis and the implementation of the two-state solution. He left Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Biman flight on Sunday (July 27) morning. He is scheduled to return to the country on Friday (August 1) morning after the three-day conference. According to sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two-day ministerial conference will be held in New York on July 28-29. France and Saudi Arabia are jointly organizing the conference in light of resolution A/RES/79/81 adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2024. Advisor Touhid Hossain will participate in the discussions of the conference and seek to inject new momentum towards a two-state solution in the context of the ongoing humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza, where foreign ministers from different countries of the world and senior UN officials will also be present. At the conference, the Foreign Affairs Advisor will reiterate Bangladesh’s commitment to international law, the UN Charter, and relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly. He will also advocate for a credible and time-bound roadmap for sustainable peace in the Middle East. This high-level UN conference is being considered a significant global effort to build consensus on the Gaza regime, ensure unhindered humanitarian aid flows, and strengthen international recognition of the State of Palestine.
