Fog in Saidpur, temperature drops to 10 degrees
Severe cold is being felt in Saidpur of Nilphamari due to icy winds. As a result, ordinary working people are facing problems. Today, Saturday (January 3), at 8 am, a temperature of 10.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Saidpur.
Apart from Saidpur, icy winds are also blowing in some upazilas of neighboring Taraganj, Parbatipur and Nilphamari districts. There was no sun in the morning. It was sunny for the last two days, so the cold was not felt very much. However, on January 3, people from all walks of life are spending their days in difficulty due to the sudden increase in the intensity of the cold. Ali Hossain, a van driver associated with the city’s Upazila Parishad, said, there was no problem in driving the van due to the sun for the last two days. But today, suddenly, I am not able to go out with the van in the severe cold. My hands and feet have become numb due to the extreme cold.
“There are five members in the family. I got my eldest daughter married with great difficulty. I have two other younger daughters at home. Despite the severe cold, I am selling pitha to feed them,” said Rashida, a pitha seller on Darul Uloom Madrasa Road in the city. “The MPO elected in the last parliamentary election is also running this time. Yesterday I went to him to bring food and blankets, but he said he would give them when the time comes. I have asked many people for help in this way, but no one turned away.” Lokman Hossain, the officer-in-charge of the Syedpur Airport Meteorological Office, told us, “After two days, we are suddenly feeling a sharp cold with cold winds. The lowest temperature recorded in Syedpur at 8 am today, Saturday, was 10.3 degrees Celsius. The previous day, Wednesday, at 8 am, it was 12 degrees Celsius. He said the temperature may drop further in 2-4 days.”
