Fire at Saikat Bar and Restaurant in Chittagong

A fire broke out at the Motel Saikat Bar and Restaurant of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation in Chittagong, destroying part of the bar. The incident took place at around 8:30 am on Monday (August 25). The fire service reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Eyewitnesses said that smoke was suddenly seen rising above the restaurant at around 8:30 am. A crowd immediately gathered there. Later, the fire service arrived and started the work of controlling the fire. However, it is not known what caused the fire. The control room of the Agrabad office of the Fire Service and Civil Defense said that they received a report of a fire at the Motel Saikat Bar and Restaurant on Station Road in the city at 8:30 am. Upon receiving the report, three units of the Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control after about an hour of effort. The fire is currently under complete control. On the day the Awami League-led government fell on August 5 last year, miscreants looted the liquor bar. The bar was later renovated and reopened after being closed for some time.
