Fire at Kotwali in Chittagong, 2 dead
Two people have died in a fire that broke out in a house in Saudagar Colony on the west bank of Dighi in Kotwali Bolua, Chittagong. Three others were injured.
The fire broke out in a tin shed in Zafar Saudagar Colony at 6:40 am on Monday. Four units from two fire service stations reached the spot on receiving information and brought the fire under control around 8 am.
Fire service officials said that a total of five people injured in the fire were rescued and admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Two of them died while undergoing treatment there.
The names of the deceased were not immediately known. However, the three injured people admitted to the hospital are Faisal (19), Sohan (19) and Shahin (22).
Although they were not burned, their respiratory systems were damaged, said Burn Unit Chief Dr. Rafiq Uddin Ahmed.
Senior Station Officer of Chandanpura Fire Station Mokarram Hossain said that five one-room houses were completely burnt in the fire and four houses were partially burnt. The fire service initially believes that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
