Finally seeing sunshine, relief in public life in Thakurgaon
After enduring bitter cold and bone-chilling northerly winds, Thakurgaon, a district in the northern part of the country, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
‘Surya Mama’, which had been shrouding the city in fog for the past few days, emerged at 7:30 am today, Tuesday (January 13). As soon as the golden glow spread across the cloudless sky, the picture of public life changed. The areas around Thakurgaon, which were bustling with children and teenagers, returned to their lively mood.
The city had been practically paralyzed by the northerly winds since last Thursday. Although the sun appeared for a short time last Sunday, the situation changed radically from yesterday, Monday. A different scene was seen from this morning – the tin roofs of the city and the silver shimmer on the leaves of trees bent due to winter. After a long wait, birds were also seen fluttering their wings to embrace the new sunshine.
This sunshine is a unique blessing of nature for the agricultural people. There is now a sense of relief on the faces of farmers of Paik village in Begunbari union of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila. They feel that this sunshine was very important during the peak season of Boro cultivation.
According to local farmer Farhad Hossain, the shivering and fog have stopped since Monday. This is like a gift for us. However, the bite of the winter of Magh is still there, that feeling will be even different. He also said that they are afraid of big danger to the rice seedlings if the intense sunshine does not come.
Sources in the local agricultural extension department said that the minimum temperature in the district this morning was 13 degrees Celsius. Deputy Director of the district agricultural extension department Majedul Islam said that the sunshine of the last two days has brought a message of peace from nature. According to experts, the prolonged sunshine has also reduced the risk of disease in the field crops to a large extent.
