Ferry traffic on Daulatdia-Paturia route normal after 5 hours
After being closed for five hours due to dense fog, ferry services on the country’s important and busiest waterway, Daulatdia-Paturiya in Rajbari have returned to normal.
The ferry services resumed after the fog subsided at 5:45 am on Thursday.
Earlier, the density of fog in the river area increased since Wednesday evening. As a result, the entire waterway was covered in fog at 1:45 am, making navigation risky, and the BIWTC authorities announced a suspension of ferry services to avoid accidents. At that time, 6 ferries anchored at the Daulatdia end of the river with passengers and vehicles.
BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Manager Md. Salahuddin said that ferry services were suspended from 1:45 am on Wednesday due to dense fog. When the fog cleared, ferry services resumed at 5:45 am on Thursday. Currently, 17 ferries are operating on the Daulatdia-Paturia waterway.
