Father and son killed in truck accident in Sirajganj

A father and son were killed in a truck accident in Salanga, Sirajganj. The accident occurred in front of Nur Jahan Hotel in Chariya Madhyapara area of ​​Salanga police station on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway at around 6:30 am on Tuesday (July 8). The deceased are Abdul Mannan Khandaker (70), son of the deceased Nur Mohammad of Purna Bera village of Salanga police station, and his son Jewel Khandaker (35). Police and locals said that the two sons were going to Enayetpur Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College Hospital in the district with their ailing father in a battery-powered autorickshaw from Purna Bera of the police station. When they reached in front of Nur Jahan Hotel in Chariya Madhyapara area of ​​Salanga police station on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway, the autorickshaw went into the middle of the highway due to a pothole. At that time, a speeding truck heading from Hatikumrul to Bonpara hit the autorickshaw. Autorickshaw passenger Abdul Mannan Khandaker and his younger son Jewel Khandaker died on the spot. The elder son Russell Khandaker was injured. Locals rescued them and sent them to the hospital. Hatikumrul Highway Police Station OC Abdur Rouf confirmed the accident and said that police have been sent to the spot. The autorickshaw passenger, a father and son, died after being hit by the truck. The truck was seized, but the driver and helper fled. Legal action will be taken in this incident.
