Fatema’s dream of becoming a doctor ended in fire
The last farewell of Milestone School and College student Fatema Akhter (9), who was killed in the training plane crash in Uttara, was held in her native village, Chitalmari, Bagerhat. On Tuesday (July 22) morning, she was buried at the family graveyard after the funeral in Kunia village of Kalatla Union. When Fatema’s body reached her village home in the early hours of the morning, a shadow of grief fell. The entire village was heavy with the wailing of relatives. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, maternal uncles and neighbors gathered to see her for the last time. The deceased Fatema was the eldest daughter of Kuwaiti expatriate Boni Amin and housewife Rupa Akhter. She was the eldest of three siblings. They lived in Dhaka with their mother Rupa. The relatives say that Fatema wanted to become a doctor when she grew up. That dream ended in the plane fire. Relatives are seen mourning so that no one else will die like this. Fatema’s uncle Syed Noman Hossain said, “I was near Milestone School at the time of the accident. After hearing the news, many people including me participated in the rescue operation. I still did not know that my niece was there. Later, I identified her body from the hospital. I brought her to the village in the morning and buried her.” Fatema’s aunt Mukti Begum said, “The body was brought home in the morning. After the funeral, she was buried in the family graveyard. The entire village is in a state of shock today. No one thought that a small life would be lost like this. Her parents are unable to say anything. This grief will never be overcome.” It is worth noting that on Monday (July 21) at 1:18 pm, an F-7 BGI model training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into the building of Milestone School and College in Uttara in the capital. Several people, including students, were killed in the incident. An investigation committee has already been formed to investigate the cause of the accident.
