Fake number plate recovered from manhole, motorcycle used in attack changed hands 8 times
Police have recovered the motorcycle, helmet and fake number plate used in the attack on Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Osman Hadi. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) seized them from the abandoned Banalata residential area of the capital on Wednesday (December 17).
The CTTC said that a team analyzed CCTV footage and revealed the change in the number plate of the motorcycle used in the attack. Later, based on confidential information, the motorcycle and helmet were recovered from the ground floor parking lot of a house in Banalata residential area of West Agargaon under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station. Later, the fake number plate was recovered from inside the abandoned manhole. An intensive investigation was conducted to identify the ownership of the motorcycle.
Police said that the first owner of the motorcycle used in the attack was a man named Abdur Rahman. Later, Shahidul, Russell, Marketplace, Obaidul Islam, Anarul, Anarul and then Obaidul were bought by a person named Shuvo. A total of 8 people changed hands and the motorcycle was purchased in the name of Moinuddin Islam using the national identity card of Md. Kabir, an associate of Faisal, the main suspect involved in the attack. The recovered motorcycle, helmet and fake number plate have been handed over to the DB.
