Faisal’s 6.5 million taka blocked and seized in Hadi murder case
The court has ordered the seizure and seizure of 6.5 million taka in 53 bank accounts of Faisal Karim Masud, the main accused in the shooting death of Inquilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, and other individuals and organizations involved in the case. Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sabbir Faiz gave the order on Wednesday (January 7). CID Police SI Abdul Latif filed the application to block the bank accounts and seize the money.
The application states that an investigation into allegations of money laundering is underway against Faisal Karim Masud, the main accused involved in the shooting death of Inquilab Manch spokesperson and potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency Sharif Osman bin Hadidi on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. During the investigation, the suspect accused Md. Analysis of these accounts in the name of Faisal Karim Masud and various institutions and individuals associated with his interests has revealed quite suspicious transactions.
In addition, the preliminary investigation has found evidence of involvement of Faisal Karim Masud and various individuals and institutions associated with his interests in murder, terrorism and financing of terrorism and organized crime. Which are related offences as per the provisions of Section 14 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012 (Amendment-2015).
In such a situation, it is absolutely necessary to block these accounts as per the provisions of Section 14 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012 (Amendment-2015) and to confiscate all the money in the accounts in favour of the state as per the provisions of Section 17(2) of the same Act. Otherwise, there is a possibility that the money in the accounts will be lost before the complaint is settled.
