Europe fails to address Gaza war

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has warned that Europe and the West’s two-pronged approach to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza is weakening their global standing. He said Europe’s response to Israel’s invasion of the Palestinian territories was one of the darkest chapters of the 21st century. In an interview with the Guardian ahead of a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London, Sanchez said the US, led by Donald Trump, was pushing the global order towards destruction. He criticised the role of traditional right-wing parties in the climate crisis and highlighted the benefits of immigration. Sanchez also said he was the first European leader to call Israel’s invasion of Gaza a genocide and that more countries were following Spain in recognising Palestine. But Europe’s response had failed.
