EU assures 4 million euros to EC

The European Union (EU) has assured the Election Commission (EC) of 4 million euros to conduct international-standard elections ahead of the 13th National Assembly elections.
A six-member delegation from the European Union (EU) met with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the EC building in Agargaon on Tuesday (August 19). It was led by European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller.
Later, Ambassador Michael Miller said that the European Union has assured the EC of 4 million euros to conduct international-standard elections.
He said that election observation is a priority for the EU. The EU will support democratic elections. It has always been with democracy and we hope that the upcoming elections will be fair and meet international standards.
Michael Miller said that an expert observation team will arrive in Bangladesh next month.
A delegation of the European Union (EU) met with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Agargaon Election Commission building in the capital at 11 am today ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections. The meeting was led by European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller.
The EC said that they would discuss the election preparations, the commission’s plans and the overall political situation. Earlier, Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed had said that a pre-election observation team of the European Union is scheduled to arrive in mid-September.
