Emergency meeting of the UN Security Council
The UN Security Council has called an emergency meeting on the Middle East after Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York at 10 am on Wednesday.
According to a report by Al-Jazeera, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, accused Iran in a letter saying that they (Iran) are trying to destroy Israel. He called on the UN Security Council to condemn Iran and designate its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a “terrorist organization”.
According to Iran, they launched missile attacks on Israel in retaliation for the Israeli massacres in Gaza and Lebanon and the assassination of the leaders of Hamas, Hezbollah and IRGC.
Iran fired about 200 ballistic missiles into Israeli territory on Tuesday. Tehran said the missile attack was carried out against Israel in retaliation for the killings in Gaza and Lebanon as well as the killings of Hamas, Hezbollah and IRGC leaders.
Shortly before this attack, the United States said that Iran was preparing to launch a ballistic missile attack on Israel. A senior White House official reported such information, according to CNN Live.
The official said the United States believed there were indications that Iran was preparing to launch an immediate ballistic missile attack against Israel.
