Elections should be held after reforming : Moin Khan

Commenting that reform is an ongoing process, BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan said, ‘Elections should be held with as much reform as the state needs for fair elections. It is not reasonable to hold elections after overall reforms and then transfer power.’

He made this comment at the inauguration of the BNP’s departmental training workshop at the Diploma Engineers Institute in the capital on Tuesday morning.

BNP is also in favor of reforms, but he said that they should be done within a specific time frame.

Moin Khan said, ‘We have to realize this truth that reforms never stop. If I want to do reforms, I can do them forever. When will those reforms end? There can be no logic in this. Elections will be held only after the reforms are completed! What logic is this? Reforms are not a matter of ending. Reforms are ongoing.’

He also said, ‘The July-August movement is not the achievement of anyone alone; This has been achieved through the united efforts of all the students and people of the country. The July-August movement was not just a movement against discrimination. This movement was a movement for democracy, voting rights and fundamental rights. In the continuation of this movement, the dictator and fascist Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave power and flee the country.’
