BNP Standing Committee Member Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain has said that the national elections must be held before February 2026. He also urged everyone to be vigilant so that no conspiracy can disrupt it. He made these comments at a memorial meeting organized by the Nationalist Fishermen’s Party in Nayapaltan on Tuesday (August 12) on the 56th birthday of Arafat Rahman Koko. Zahid Hossain said, we had a 31-point program before July. BNP will participate in the upcoming elections in light of this program. Elections must be held before February 26. There will be a vote war with the people of the country. We must ensure that no one can thwart it. We must ensure that no conspiracy can disrupt it. Elections must be held in a festive atmosphere. People can vote peacefully. ‘On August 5, dictatorship fled from Bangladesh. In 15 years, we have lost thousands of leaders and activists. We have a responsibility to rehabilitate the injured. We must continue to cooperate with them. We must not forget them under any circumstances,’ he said. Zahid Hossain said, there was Baksal earlier. Four newspapers were closed then. Ziaur Rahman opened them. Before Ziaur Rahman, there was no garment industry in Bangladesh. During Ziaur Rahman’s tenure, people went from one party to multi-party politics. If we people of the hills and plains are united, then Bangladesh will move forward. Chakma, Marma, we are all Bangladeshis. It was during Khaleda Zia’s tenure that the state system was introduced from a presidential-ruled government to a prime minister-ruled state system.
