Elections are the only way to ensure people’s political rights: Tarique Rahman

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that elections are the only way to establish people’s political rights. On Tuesday (August 19), he spoke virtually at a discussion meeting at the China Friendship Conference Center in the capital on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the Nationalist Volunteer Party. Tarique Rahman said that after the fall of the most brutal fascist force in history, engaging in unnecessary debates by the anti-fascist democratic forces is tantamount to disrespecting the sacrifices of the martyrs. He said that qualitative changes should be brought to the prevailing political trend by implementing sound plans instead of the politics of revenge and revenge. The BNP Acting Chairman said that BNP’s future politics will be the politics of improving the living standards of the people. The party’s commitment will be to create employment and ensure safe employment at home and abroad. Regarding the announcement of the national elections in February, he said that the people’s wait of a decade and a half will end. People will choose their preferred candidates by casting their votes, this is everyone’s expectation now. Tarique Rahman said that the statements of various political parties have raised various questions in the minds of the democracy-loving people. If there is disunity among the anti-fascist forces, it will be easy for the fallen fascism to return. Therefore, all parties must be careful. He said that if people’s representatives are elected through direct voting, the people will be strong and only when the people are strong, the country will be strong. Tarique Rahman said that the only way to establish the political rights of the people is through elections. He warned the party leaders and activists that no such work can be done that creates negative perceptions among the people. ‘People’s power is the strength of BNP. Therefore, we must behave responsibly,’ urged the BNP acting chairman.
