Elderly cyclist killed in bus collision in Joypurhat
A cyclist named Dhaneshwar Mahanta (70) was killed in a collision with a Hanif Paribahan bus in Kalai upazila of Joypurhat. The accident occurred on Tuesday (December 23) evening in the Shimultali area of the upazila on the Joypurhat-Bogra road. The deceased Dhaneshwar Mahanta is the son of the deceased Forkan Mahanta of Aora village in Kalai upazila.
Police said that Mahanta was riding a bicycle towards Kalai Panchshira Bazar. On the way, a Hanif Paribahan bus hit the bicycle from behind in the Shimultali area. He was seriously injured. Later, locals rescued him and admitted him to Kalai Upazila Health Complex. Later, he died on the way to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for advanced treatment. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalai police station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.
