Efforts to procure fuel oil from alternative markets continue

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that oil prices are rising due to the war in the Middle East. The government is being forced to buy oil at high prices. Efforts to procure fuel oil from alternative markets are continuing. He said this after a meeting with the NBR chairman and officials at the National Board of Revenue (NBR) building on Wednesday (April 1) morning.
Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury then said that the government has come to power with a fragile economy inherited from the past. Added to this is the Middle East crisis and the challenge of fulfilling the election manifesto. The government wants to move away from a debt-based economy to an investment-based economy to deal with the crisis.
He said that the upcoming budget has also kept in mind the concerns of women, children, marginalized communities and businessmen. The current government wants to ensure a stable investment situation in the country.
