    Education administration has been reorganized.

Like other government departments after the July mass uprising, the education administration departments have been reorganized through reshuffles, new postings and appointments. However, with the change of officials, service recipients are also expecting harassment-free services in these departments. The new appointees have said that they will strive to fulfill their expectations.

After the Ministry of Education, the biggest movement of teachers and employees across the country is being carried out in the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHHE). BCS education cadre officer, Professor Dr. Ehtesam-ul Haque of Patuakhali Government College, was made the head (Director General) of this department yesterday. The Ministry of Education has issued a notification in this regard.

It is learned that on January 4, the Director General of DSHHE, Professor ABM Rezaul Karim, went on post-retirement leave due to the expiration of the service age limit. Since then, the post has been vacant.

After the change of government on August 5 in the student-public uprising, the Director General of DSHHE, Professor Nehal Ahmed, resigned on August 21. He was appointed on a contractual basis. Then Professor ABM Rezaul Karim got the routine responsibility. Later, he was given the current responsibility of the Director General.

Yesterday afternoon, it was seen in the Shiksha Bhaban that the officials and employees were enthusiastic and preparing to welcome the new Director General. On the other hand, as every day, teachers and employees from different districts and upazilas are sitting on the waiting sofas on the second and third floors of Chitra Bhaban for various needs. Md. Salauddin, a lecturer who has recently joined a private higher secondary college in Khulna, told our time, I had sent the MPO registration papers through the local office. But I came to know why the MPO registration was not done on time. Taslima Akhter, a government secondary school teacher from Doha, near Dhaka, has brought a leave application for medical treatment. Professor Zillur Hossain, who retired from the job, said that he has to come from faraway Cox’s Bazar several times to collect a salary slip for the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) office. Our expectation is harassment-free service from Maushi.

Maushi was also appointed as a director in the Finance and Procurement Wing yesterday. Education cadre officer Gopinath Pal, a professor of mathematics at Government Tolaram College in Narayanganj, has been appointed as the director general of the National Academy of Education Management (NAEM). He was a senior expert at the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

On the same day, Associate Professor Md. Abu Sayeed of Government Shah Sultan College in Bogra was appointed as the deputy director of NAEM.

On January 28, Professor Dr. Khandaker Ehsanul Kabir was appointed as the new chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. He was the principal of Jessore Government Michael Madhusudan College. In a separate notification, Dhaka Board’s examination controller Md. Abul Bashar has been withdrawn from his post and made an officer on special duty (without responsibility). Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider has been appointed as the board’s examination controller. He is a professor at Government Titumir College.

The new examination controller SM Kamal Uddin Haider told our time, “I will strive to fulfill my duties by giving importance to the expectations of the people in providing services to the board. I will also work on how to make service delivery easier.”

On January 20, the government appointed new chairmen to Jessore, Comilla, Sylhet and Dinajpur Education Boards. These officers of the BCS general education cadre have been appointed on deputation. By order of the ministry, Dr. Asma Begum, a professor of political science at the capital’s Government Titumir College, has been appointed as the Jessore Education Board, Md. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, vice-principal (professor of mathematics) of Moulvibazar Government College, has been appointed as the Sylhet, and Muha. Touhidul Islam, principal of Chapainawabganj Government College (professor of English department), has been appointed as the chairman of the Dinajpur Education Board.
