EC holds meeting with 16 departments and organizations, including the armed forces
Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections, the Election Commission (EC) held a meeting with 16 departments and organizations, including the armed forces. This important coordination meeting began at 9 am today (January 11) at the conference room (room number-520) of the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon, the capital. Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah presided over it. Earlier, EC Deputy Secretary Md. Monir Hossain issued a notification for this meeting yesterday (January 10).
It is learned that the Election Commission Secretary and other senior officials concerned are present in the meeting. The Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Director General of Coast Guard and Inspector General of Police (IGP) participated in this coordination meeting related to law and order.
The Director General of Ansar and Village Defence Force (VDP), Director General of National Security Intelligence (NSI), Director General of Directorate of Force Intelligence (DGFI), Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC), Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and representatives of concerned agencies will also be present.
The Election Commission said that the main objective of the meeting is to maintain law and order situation at the field level, increase coordination among various forces and finalize the security framework during the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections and the proposed referendum. The meeting is also expected to discuss in detail intelligence sharing and security of polling stations.
