Earthquake is uncertain, there is no chance of closing schools: Primary and Mass Education Advisor

Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Advisor to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said that schools cannot be closed in uncertain situations like earthquakes. He said this in response to questions from journalists after inaugurating the newly built playground of Bagbari Chaubari Government Primary School in Katuli Union of Tangail Sadar Upazila on Sunday (November 23) afternoon. He said that an earthquake can happen at any time. Therefore, not panic, but caution and preparation are the most important now. Necessary precautionary instructions have already been sent to schools.
The advisor also said that currently, about 32,000 head teacher posts are vacant in primary schools in the country, which is creating a major obstacle in school management. This promotion has been stuck for a long time due to complications related to the case. The matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court. We are trying our best to settle the case quickly. Once the case is settled, 32,000 assistant teachers will be promoted to the post of head teachers. After that, new appointments will be made to the vacant posts.
Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar further said that a large-scale teacher recruitment notification has already been published to alleviate the teacher crisis. He expressed the hope that this will make the country’s primary education system more dynamic. Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Tangail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Mia and officials of various departments were present at the time.
