Earthquake death toll rises to 11, over 300 injured

One of the most powerful tremors in history has claimed more lives, taking the total death toll to 11. The epicenter of the 5.7-magnitude 26-second earthquake that struck Narsingdi at 10:38 am on Friday was Madhavadi in Narsingdi. Meteorologists said it was the biggest earthquake to hit Bangladesh in the last 30 years.
The earthquake caused many casualties as buildings and walls collapsed in different parts of the country. According to the latest information received from these incidents, 11 people have been killed. Of these, 5 people have died in Narsingdi alone. 3 people have died in Bangshal in the capital and 1 in Mugda. One person each has died in Narayanganj and Gazipur. The number of injured in the earthquake is over 300.
More than 300 people have been injured in different parts of the country in this recent major earthquake. More than 200 have been injured in Dhaka, Narsingdi and Gazipur. In Sreepur, Gazipur, more than a hundred garment factory workers were injured after running from a multi-storey building in fear of an earthquake. The incident took place at the Denimac factory in Kewa Purbakhand village of Sreepur Municipality. In addition, many people were injured in the rush as roofs of buildings collapsed in different parts of the country, plaster from the roof, walls, etc. fell. According to the Health Department, 10 people injured in the earthquake are receiving treatment at Sir Salimullah Medical College. Out of the injured, 10 have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The injured are being treated at Tajuddin Medical College in Gazipur. In addition, 45 injured are undergoing treatment at Narsingdi District Hospital.
