DU teacher suspended over sexual harassment allegations

Dhaka University Chemistry Department Professor Dr. Md. Ershad Halim has been suspended after the initial allegations of sexual harassment by students were proven true. This decision was taken at a recent Dhaka University Syndicate meeting. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan presided over the meeting.
A five-member investigation committee has been formed with the Principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College as the convener to investigate the allegations made against Chemistry Department Professor Dr. Md. Ershad Halim and submit a report.
Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Moniruzzaman, Assistant Proctor Dr. Enamul Haque Sajeeb and a representative of the accused have been made members of the investigation committee and the university’s Deputy Registrar (Investigation) has been made member-secretary of the committee. The investigation committee has been requested to submit a report with recommendations within three months.
