DU admission test question paper full of inconsistencies

A discrepancy has been found in the question paper set of the undergraduate admission test of the Dhaka University (DU) Business Education Unit for the 2024-25 academic year. Two such question papers have come to our attention. There, the question paper of one person’s ‘B’ set does not match the ‘B’ set of the other.

Such an incident occurred at the Chittagong University Center today, Saturday. As a result, students took the test with two types of questions in the same set. Students have alleged discrimination in the publication of the results.

After analyzing the questions, it was found that questions from 1-16 of the ‘B’ set are similar to the questions of the other person’s ‘B’ set. But questions from 17-31 do not match. The serial has become random.

This Saturday, 36 students came to the Chittagong University Center by bus from Sitakunda to take part in the DU admission test. After the test, they noticed a discrepancy when they compared the questions. Out of the 36, 11 took the test with the ‘B’ set question paper. Of these, 10 had the same questions from the ‘B’ set. However, a student named Ekramul Islam Munna did not have the same questions in the ‘B’ set.

Munna told our time, there is no problem of repeating questions. It is solvable. But how can it be solved where the questions in the set are not the same? In the software, the answer sheet of the OMR sheet gives different commands for each set of questions. But how will the answer sheet of the ‘B’ set be evaluated?

He complained that the question in the ‘B’ set of all 11 people was the same. Mine is different. In this case, which question paper will be evaluated in the light of mine? In this case, discrimination will be created. Again, if I evaluate it in the light of my question paper, discrimination will be created in the case of the rest.

Munna said, we were able to catch the inconsistency by comparing friends. No one else could catch it. They passed the exam and left. We have informed the CU administration about the inconsistency in the question paper.

In this regard, Chittagong University Registrar (Acting) Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Islam said, a student himself came to inform me. I have not received any complaint of such inconsistency from anyone else. I have informed the DU authorities about the matter. They said that they are discussing the matter. The next step will be to ensure that students are not discriminated against.

Meanwhile, several more discrepancies were found in the admission test of DU’s Business Education Unit on Saturday. In the question paper of ‘A’ and ‘B’ sets, 4 questions were repeated twice. However, this repetition was not seen in the questions of all students. DU’s admission test was held in 8 divisional cities this time. So far, discrepancies have been found in the question paper at the centers of Dhaka and Chittagong Universities.

The matter is creating a kind of panic among the students seeking admission. Some are commenting that such mistakes are undesirable and inexcusable in an institution like DU.
