Don’t want another October tragedy: DUCSU VP

Today, Wednesday (October 15), is Dhaka University’s mourning day. DUCSU VP Sadiq said at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of Qayem Day, we don’t want another October tragedy. We should learn from this.
He said this at a discussion meeting after paying tribute to those who died in the tragic accident that occurred at the university’s Jagannath Hall on Wednesday (October 15) morning.
DUCSU VP said that the condition of the roofs of several halls including Mohsin Hall, Suryasen Hall, Salimullah Hall is still bad. This needs to be fixed. The budget needs to be implemented.
On the other hand, GS Farhad Hossain said that such an accident occurred at Jagannath Hall due to lack of supervision by the university. The university is still not listening to the recommendations of engineers. May no one else lose their lives due to mismanagement.
Earlier in the morning, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A condolence rally from the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla led by Niaz Ahmed Khan proceeded towards the Jagannath Hall memorial, laid wreaths and observed silence.
Incidentally, on the night of 1985, 40 people were killed when the roof of the television room of the then Anudvaipayan Bhaban of Jagannath Hall, Dhaka University, collapsed. Among them, 26 were students and 13 were university employees and guests. More than a hundred were injured in the incident.
