Don’t elect corrupt people: ACC Chairman
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen has urged not to elect corrupt people in the upcoming elections. He said, ‘If voters reject corrupt people and extortionists, corruption in the country will decrease to a large extent. Then there will be no need for the ACC.’
He made these remarks at the inauguration of a day-long program on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday (December 9) morning. The ACC Chairman said that corruption has spread to every corner of society in such a way that it is difficult to completely eradicate it. In this situation, he urged the youth to come forward.
Abdul Momen said, ‘It seems like every day is a festival for corrupt people. But it is possible to rein them in with just one day’s initiative by anti-corruption activists.’ Earlier in the morning, the day-long program was inaugurated by hoisting the flag and releasing balloons at the ACC’s Segunbagicha office. Later, an anti-corruption awareness human chain was held with the participation of various government and private organizations including the ACC.
ACC Commissioner Miah Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi, Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid, ACC Director General Gon, Reporters Against Corruption (RAC) President Alauddin Arif, General Secretary Tabarul Haque and high-ranking officials of various government departments and offices were present.
