Doctor suspended for misbehaving with patient’s relatives in Panchagarh

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has suspended a doctor at Panchagarh’s Adhunik Sadar Hospital after a video of him behaving dishonestly, using obscene language and misbehaving with patient’s relatives went viral.
This information was given in an order signed by the Ministry’s Health Services Division Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman on Monday (September 22) afternoon. The doctor is Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Md. Abul Kashem.
The order states that Dr. Md. Abul Kashem has behaved dishonestly, used obscene language and misbehaved with patient’s relatives, which was published on social media. His such behavior is against the code of conduct for government servants and is considered ‘misconduct’ as per Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
It was further stated that therefore, it has been decided to suspend him from government service for his unprofessional conduct. As per the rules, he has been suspended from the date of issuance of the order. As per the prevailing rules, he will get food allowance during the suspension.
Panchagarh Civil Surgeon Dr. Mizanur Rahman said that the doctor was given a show cause notice immediately after the video came to his notice. I received a copy of the doctor’s suspension order by post from the ministry last Sunday.
Earlier, an ugly video of him went viral on social media last Thursday (September 18). The video shows him behaving indecent and insulting the parents and relatives of a child who was a rape victim under treatment, making various threats and using offensive language. Since the video was released, there has been a storm of criticism on social media.
