Dispute over lost goat, death due to poisoning

A man named Paresh Barman (45) died of poisoning due to a family dispute over a lost goat. He died at the 250-bed Thakurgaon General Hospital on Sunday (February 22) night. The deceased Paresh Barman is the son of the late Nabakanta Barman of Dakshin Kalibari (Ward No. 8) area of ​​Panchpir Union No. 10 of Boda Upazila of Panchagarh district.
Family sources and locals said that one of Paresh Barman’s goats went missing last Saturday. There had been a lot of arguments and disagreements between the family members for the past two days. At one point, Paresh Barman ate a poisonous gas tablet kept in the house yesterday afternoon out of anger and pride. When the family members came to know about the matter, they tried to take him to the hospital quickly, but there was a delay due to lack of vehicles on time. Later, he was brought to Thakurgaon General Hospital at 11:25 pm.
Dr. Manjurul Islam, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Thakurgaon 250-bed General Hospital, said that Paresh Barman was brought to the hospital in an injured condition and the doctor on duty declared him dead after examination. The body is currently kept in the hospital morgue. Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station OC Mohammad Monir Hossain confirmed the incident and said that the police visited the hospital after receiving the information. An accidental death case and further legal action are being taken in this incident.
