Dipu Moni on 4-day remand in murder case

A court in Dhaka has granted a four-day remand to former Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni in a case filed on charges of shooting and killing fraudster Md. Monir in Chankharpul during the anti-discrimination student movement in the capital.
Dipu Moni was produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court from jail this Monday (October 6) morning. At that time, the investigating officer applied for him to be taken on a 10-day remand for a fair investigation of the case.
After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan granted the accused a four-day remand.
According to the charges in the case, Monir participated in a protest with students and the public in Chankharpul area of ​​Shahbagh police station during the anti-discrimination movement on August 5 last year. At one point, the accused opened fire, killing him on the spot.
The deceased’s wife Rozina Akhter filed a murder case with Shahbagh police station on March 14. Dipu Moni is the accused in case number 31. It is worth noting that the police arrested former Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni on August 19. He was then shown arrested and remanded in cases filed at various police stations in the capital during the anti-discrimination student movement.
