Dhaka’s air pollution at its peak
Dhaka has been suffering from air pollution for a long time. The air quality was very unhealthy for several consecutive days at the beginning of winter this year. As a result, the air pollution in the city is in a terrible state in the morning.
According to the data of the international air quality technology company IQAir at around 9 am today, Thursday, the capital Dhaka topped the list of the most polluted cities in the world with a score of 295.
At the same time, the Pakistani city of Lahore is in second place in the list of the most polluted cities in the world with a score of 237. The Indian city of Kolkata is in third place with a score of 194. The air quality here is ‘unhealthy’ for citizens. Hanoi in Vietnam is in fourth place with a score of 190 and Kathmandu in Nepal is in fifth place with a score of 188.
Generally, an AQI score between 51 and 100 is considered ‘moderate’. If it is between 101 and 150, the air quality is ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’, while an AQI score between 151 and 200 is considered ‘unhealthy’.
AQI score between 201 and 300 is considered ‘very unhealthy’ and an AQI score of 301+ is considered ‘hazardous’, posing a serious health risk to residents.
