Dhaka leads the list of most polluted cities.

Dhaka the capital of Bangladesh also continues to experience worsening air pollution in line with major cities across the globe. International air quality technology company IQAir said on Monday that the air of Dhaka was extremely hazardous to health. The capital Dhaka leads the list with 266 points, classified as very unhealthy.

This stands at an opposite where Delhi in India with 254 stands at second Hanoi in Vietnam on third by 253 points, fourth and fifth respectively stands Karachi of Pakistan standing with a point of 195 followed by Kolkata, also from India standing with 187.

The index value ranging between zero and 50 falls in the category of good air quality. From 51 to 100, the quality of air is classified as moderate or tolerable. Then again, the quality of air falls into the category of being unhealthy for sensitive groups when it is within a range of 101 to 150. A quality range between 151 to 200 signifies air quality as unhealthy, while that falling between 201 to 300 marks air quality as very unhealthy. Finally, a score greater than 301 means disastrous conditions.

Due to many reasons like climate change, air pollution has been increasing day by day in various cities around the world. Not an exception, for a long period of time, air pollution has taken its toll on megacity Dhaka.
