Decision to install GPS system in buses, Eid journey was smooth this time: Road Transport Minister

Road Transport Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has said that Global Positioning System or GPS will be installed in buses. He said that through this, it will be easy to identify whether any law is being violated or not, as well as inappropriate public transport. He told the media after a high-level meeting at the Secretariat today (March 29) to strengthen government activities to prevent road accidents in the country and increase overall road safety.
The minister said that the highway police will be more active in future. Where complaints of over-fare have been received, action has been taken. 100% of the passengers will be deboarded from the bus and the vehicle will be taken to the ferry.
He alleged that although the movement of trucks and buses on the highway was supposed to be stopped before and after Eid, they were plying. The minister also believes that this is responsible for the traffic jams in some places. He said that there will be no ticket counters on the highways in future. He said that overall the Eid journey was smooth. Traffic congestion and unexpected accidents have occurred in some places. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for this. There have been fewer accidents on the roads this year compared to last year.
