Dabirul Islam the former Member of Parliament has been arrested
Dabirul Islam, a former member of parliament of Awami League from Thakurgaon-2 constituency, has been arrested by the police.
He was arrested from a house in Ramnath Bazar area of Ruhia Police Station of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila at around 2 am on Wednesday.
Dabirul Islam is the former MP of Thakurgaon-2 constituency and he is the former president of Thakurgaon District Awami League.
Shahidur Rahman, OC of Ruhia police station, said that Dabirul Islam was in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government in the student uprising. He was arrested from the house of late Awami League leader Alamgir in Ramnath Bazar area of Ruhia police station on Wednesday night.
There are two cases of extortion, land grabbing and murder in Thakurgaon against former MP Dabirul Islam. He is the main accused in these two cases.
On September 3, businessman Habibur Rahman Bablu filed a case in Thakurgaon Judge Rahima Khatun’s court for extortion and land grabbing. Judge Rahima Khatun directed the OC of Baliadangi police station of the district to register this case as a statement.
