CPD played a role in creating the mindset of the coup: Chief Advisor
The Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has said that the research organization Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) has always been striving to establish a democratic, just and accountable society. The research and public awareness activities of CPD have played a huge role in creating the mindset for the recent mass uprising. The Chief Advisor said this in a video message at a program organized in Dhaka on Sunday to mark the 30th anniversary of CPD.
Professor Yunus mentioned that over the past 30 years, CPD has been able to establish itself as a reliable and fearless institution among the people of the country through various activities. He said, for this reason, this institution always carries special significance to me.
Stating that Bangladesh is now passing through important times, the Chief Advisor further said, I hope that CPD will continue its intellectual contribution in the present and future as in the past and will contribute to the welfare of the country and its people. He wished CPD greater role and success in the country’s needs in the coming days.
Congratulating everyone associated with the organization as a founding trustee of CPD, Muhammad Yunus said, “Today, I specially congratulate my teacher Professor Rehman Sobhan, the founder of CPD. He has been playing an exceptional role in different times in the country. In its long journey of 30 years, CPD has been recognized as a reputable research institution in the country and abroad. CPD has always thought independently, standing against the current, and has tried to provide important advice to policymakers at different times in the interest of the country. The efforts that I have made throughout my life to change the overall condition of the common people of the country and eliminate poverty have always been reflected in the work of CPD. The Chief Advisor mentioned that CPD’s policy analysis and research activities have brought about a massive change in the overall thinking structure of the country.
