Cook stabbed to death by friend over drinking

A cook named Suman Costa (45) in Gazipur was allegedly stabbed to death by an ‘alcoholic’ friend. The incident took place in the Rangamati area of ​​Kaliganj upazila on Tuesday (December 23) afternoon. The deceased Suman Costa is the son of the deceased Sukanta Costa of the Rangamati area of ​​Tumulia union of the upazila. He was a cook by profession. The accused in the incident is his friend Nandan de Costa (46). He is the son of Gilbert de Costa of the same area.
According to police and local sources, Suman Costa went to the house of his friend Nandan de Costa yesterday afternoon. There, the two drank alcohol together. During this time, they had an argument. At one point, Nandan de Costa stabbed Suman Costa multiple times to death. After the incident, the accused Nandan threw the body of the deceased into a pond near the house, covered it with a mat and fled. Later, around 4 pm, local people saw a body floating in the pond and informed the police. Police reached the spot that night and recovered the body. Police said that the deceased had multiple stab wounds on his chest, neck and face. Accused Nandan de Costa had earlier been accused of stabbing and beating. Kaliganj Police Station OC Md. Zakir Hossain said that the body was recovered from the spot after receiving information. A drive to arrest the accused is underway. The process of taking legal action in this incident is underway.
