Commission wants observer agencies as partners: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said that the commission wants to keep observer agencies as partners. He made these comments in a dialogue with representatives of 40 domestic observer agencies today, Tuesday (November 25).
The CEC said, we will have a formal system in this election. However, we want to see this election through the eyes of observers. Those who are new observers should train their manpower as soon as possible. If they do not perform their duties properly, then the reputation of your institution will be tarnished.
He further said, we want to give the nation a fair, beautiful and credible election. We want to forget the past and move forward by learning from them. A good election will require the cooperation of everyone.
Stating that the responsibility of observer agencies is to observe the election, he said, the reporting of observers will be smart reporting. It should be done in the light of reality. Your manpower will be responsible for observing the elections. They will not take any action themselves. Urging observers not to get involved in politics in the upcoming elections, he said, “Bangladeshis are very politically aware. If those who will observe get involved in politics, then everyone will suffer. They must check whether the people they appoint are involved in any politics.”
